Scientific festival „Erdvėlaivis Žemė“ (Spacecraft Earth) was organized for the 15-th time. During these fifteen years the festival grew and has become the biggest science popularization event in Lithuania.Sixteen cities and their regions participated in this year’s festival. „Erdvėlaivis Žemė“ was organized by hundreds of scientists, PhD., Master‘s, Bachelor‘s and high school students. Festival aims directly at younger attendees, mainly school student. Main objective of this festival is to show younger audiences the importance of scientific and technological tendencies and even try them out with their own hands. That goal is achieved by opening the doors of research centers and their laboratories, high-tech companies, libraries and museums.
Institute of Materials Science in „Santakos“ valley has organized several measures (lectures and hands-on activities) for the students from different schools (KTU Engineering lyceum, Alytus „Putinų“ gymnasium, Kaunas „Aušros“ gymnasium, Kaišiadoriai „Algirdo Brazausko“ gymnasium and Alytus Saint Benedicts gymnasium):

* Investigation of „Blue“ Light Produced by Smart Devices – prof. dr. Tomas Tamulevičius, dr. Rimantas Gudaitis;

* Mysterious Carbon – dr. Šarūnas Meškinis, dr. Rimantas Gudaitis;
* Self-healing Glass or High Technologies and Magic – dr. Šarūnas Meškinis.
