Seminar on Advancing Sustainable Energy Systems through Interfacial Engineering

Important | 2025-12-31

On December 5, 2025, the seminar at KTU Institute of Materials Science featured Dr. Sami Khan, Assistant Professor at Simon Fraser University (Canada). His talk, *Ideating at Interfaces: Enhancing Performance and Longevity of Sustainable Energy Systems*, explored how interfacial engineering can unlock new capabilities for sustainable energy technologies.

Dr. Khan highlighted three application areas:
– Strategies for soot removal in biomass combustion using microtextured surfaces.
– Bubble-harnessing aerophilic surfaces for efficient CO₂ capture and conversion.
– Surface patterning approaches to improve wettability and stability of phase change materials for thermal energy storage.

The seminar concluded with a broader vision for how interfacial science can accelerate the transition to low-carbon energy systems and improve the longevity of clean energy technologies.
