On March 20-23 61st International Conference for Students of Physics and Natural Sciences „Open Readings 2018“ (http://www.openreadings.eu/) was held in National Center for Physical Sciences and Technology (NFTMC) in Vilnius. 4 students and 1 post-doc from the Institute of Materials Science have taken part in the conference.
On the second day of the conference, two posters were presented: Valentinas Andrulis (KTU MGMF bachelor student) „Investigation of Bipolar Small Organic Molecules as Active Material in Electrochromic Devices“, Erika Rajackaitė (KTU MMI PhD student) and Domantas Peckus (KTU MMI post-doc) „Ultrafast Excited State Relaxation Dynamics of Mono and Multilayer Graphene“.
The next day another two posters were presented: Mindaugas Juodėnas (KTU MMI PhD student) and Domantas Peckus „Polarization Dependant Ultrafast Plasmon Relaxation Dynamics in Gold Nanowires“, Aušrinė Jurkevičiūtė (KTU MMI PhD student) „Helium Ion Microscopy of 1D Structures Ablated Employing Femtosecond Laser Interference Field“.
Students had the opportunity to listen to invited lecturers from Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Lithuania, United Kingdom and United States of America about topics of strong-field physics, silicon photonics, terahertz technology, defects, magnetic field sensors, internal GPS, fossils in meteorites, metamaterials.
One of the conference sponsors was JSC „Holtida“, which made holographic security labels for the certificates of attendees.
