On June 18-22 the largest in Europe 2018 Spring Meeting of the European Materials Research Society (E-MRS) in the field of Materials Science and Technology was held in Strasbourg. Delegation from the Institute of Materials Science – director prof. habil. dr. Sigitas Tamulevičius, senior researcher dr. Šarūnas Meškinis and PhD student Erika Rajackaitė have taken part in the conference.
At L symposium (Carbon- and/or nitrogen-containing thin films and nanomaterials) an oral presentation “Diamond like carbon nanocomposite films with embedded copper nanoparticles deposited by magnetron sputtering for saturable absorption” and a poster presentation “Investigation of graphene influence on the performance of electrochromic devices” was presented.
At N symposium (Nanostructures for phononic applications) a poster presentation was given on a topic “Plasmonic and phononic relaxation dynamics in nanoporous gold”.
At V symposium (Epitaxial integration of dissimilar materials: challenges and fundamentals) a poster presentation “Direct synthesis of graphene on monocrystalline Si and SiO2 substrates by microwave plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition” was given.
At X symposium (Photon-assisted synthesis and processing of materials in nano-microscale) a given poster presentation “Processing of metal thin films and foils using ultra-short pulse direct laser interference patterning and focused laser beam ablation” won E-MRS Graduate Student Award. The award consisted of a grant of 450 EUR jointly with a diploma!
