A distinguished delegation from Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) recently concluded a series of meetings in Copenhagen, Denmark, aimed at strengthening collaborative research in the fields of quantum technologies and energy. The visit, conducted on Monday, February 24th, sought to expand partnerships with prominent Danish research institutions.
The delegation, comprising Rector Prof. Dr. Eugenijus Valatka, Prof. Habil. Dr. Sigitas Tamulevičius, Assoc. Prof. Mindaugas Žilys, Prof. Dr. Saulius Gudžius, and Dr. Giedrė Sadeikaitė, commenced their visit at the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen. Hosted by Director Joachim Mathiesen, and in the presence of Ambassador Asta Radikaitė of Lithuania in Denmark, the delegation engaged in discussions on the advancement of quantum technologies. The dialogue focused on Denmark’s established leadership in the domain of quantum research and explored potential avenues for scaling up quantum technology development within Lithuania. Notably, the participation of Associate Professor Saulius Vaitiekėnas from the Niels Bohr Institute facilitated a valuable exchange of perspectives.
Subsequently, the KTU delegation was received at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) by President Anders Overgaard Bjarklev, Director of International Education Morten Overgaard, and Head of Policy Camilla Mørk. They discussed ways to reinforce existing collaborative frameworks and expanding student exchange programs between the two institutions. Finally, the visit concluded with consultations at DTU Energy with Peter Hendriksen and Jens Oluf Jensen, and at DTU Physics with Søren Bang Korsholm. The program was diligently coordinated by Kornelija Mikalajūnaitė from DTU.
The visit effectively reinforced the commitment of both Lithuanian and Danish academic institutions to engage in collaborative research and knowledge transfer. The Institute of Materials Science expresses its sincere appreciation to all participating institutions and individuals for their contributions to advancing academic cooperation between Lithuania and Denmark.
