On October 2018, scientists of Institute of Materials Science dr. Asta Tamulevičienė and dr. Tomas Tamulevičius under the frame of tripartite (Latvia, Lithuania, Taiwan – LLT) cooperation project „2D nanostructures of noble metal nanoparticles for biosensor applications” were visiting Tunghai University in Taiwan. The visit was arranged together with Latvian partners where all partners were participating in the organized LLT Workshop at Tunghai University. During the workshop, results of ongoing cooperation and future tasks in the project and research trends were discussed, talks were given by dr. Tomas Tamulevičius (KTU) and dr. Juris Prikulis (Latvia University). Scientists also have visited National Taiwan university where Tomas Tamulevičius gave a talk covering the research performed in Institute of Materials Science. During the visits in both universities, scientists have met not only the research staff but also had exchanged ideas with the students and used a chance to introduce Lithuania, Kaunas city, Kaunas University of Technology and present the possibilities to study and do research.
On 21-24 of October, two institute researchers dr. Asta Tamulevičienė and dr. Tomas Tamulevičius have participated in the conference “EMN Meeting in Photonics 2018” which took place in Kaohsiung city in Taiwan. The conference attracted leading scientists, researchers, scholars and engineers from academia, R&D laboratories and industry around the world to exchange, share and learn the most recent advancement on various aspects related to optics, photonics and laser science. During the conference two invited talks were given: “Investigation of Ag Nanoparticle Assemblies in Top Down and Bottom Up Prepared Templates“ by dr. Tomas Tamulevičius and „Investigation of Different Nature Silver Nanostructures for Enhancement of Raman Scattering Signal“ by dr. Asta Tamulevičienė. Asta Tamulevičienė was also chairing conference section “Quantum Optics”. It was a great occasion not only to present current results but also to establish new cooperation contacts with the scientists from Australia, Taiwan and Germany.
