On august 19 – 23 International Conference-School „Advanced Materials and Technologies” entered its twenties. This year the conference-school was held for the 21 st year in a row. It was organised by Kaunas University of Technology Institute of Materials Science in collaboration with Kaunas Science and Technology Park, Lithuanian Materials Research Society and universities of Vilnius, Latvia, Riga Technical, Tartu, Southern Denmark, and Center for Physical Sciences and Technologies.
More than 130 attendees listened to lectures which were delivered by an international team: Australia (RMIT University), Belarus (Belarusian State University, The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus), Italy (Elettra-Sincrotrone Trieste SCpA ), Israel (Tel Aviv University), JAV (University of North Texas, The State University of New Jersey), United Kingdom(Loughborough University London), China (Northwestern Polytechnical University), Lithuania (Center for Physical Sciences and Technology, Kaunas University of Technology, Vilnius Gediminas Technical University), France (Institut de Science des Matériaux de Mulhouse), Russia (Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology), Finland (VVT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd), Switzerland (CERN), Taiwan (Tunghai University), Germany (OSRAM Opto Semiconductors GmbH).
Two poster sessions ended with ovations for the best 8 presenters whom were awarded with prizes. Between the best presenters there were two Institutes PhD. students: Erika Rajackaitė and Mindaugas Juodėnas. Erika presented („The Control of Quality of Graphene Layers Based on Their Ultrafast Relaxation Properties“ (research was financed by Research Council of Lithuania). Mindaugas presented „Single Particle Self-Assembly proved by Surface Lattice Resonance“ (research was financed by an international Lithuanian-Latvian-Chinese (Taiwanese) project).
Quality of lectures, generation of new ideas and development of scientific communication will remain the main accents of this conference-school!
