From 24 to 28 August 2026, the international conference Advanced Materials and Technologies 2026 (AMT2026) took place in Palanga, Lithuania, bringing together scientists, researchers, and industry representatives from across the globe working in the fields of materials science, physical technologies, and engineering. The conference was organized by the Institute of Materials Science of Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) in cooperation with partners from Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia.
The conference showcased the latest research advances in advanced materials, nanotechnology, photonics, energy storage and conversion, organic electronics, quantum technologies, and other emerging fields. Presentations were delivered by distinguished researchers from the United Kingdom, Germany, Belgium, Finland, Taiwan, Poland, Denmark, and many other countries.
Researchers from Kaunas University of Technology also made a significant contribution to the scientific programme. KTU representatives presented their latest research on topics including organic electronics, applications of plasmonic nanostructures, micro- and nanoencapsulation, and other areas of advanced materials science. The conference was officially opened by Prof. Sigitas Tamulevičius, Director of the KTU Institute of Materials Science, who also chaired both the Programme and Organizing Committees.
One of the highlights of the conference was the active participation of young researchers and doctoral students. During the traditional poster session, the best contributions were recognized, and the Audience Award was presented to KTU researcher Musawir Ghani for his work on the fabrication of flexible strain sensors using additive manufacturing technologies.
For many years, the AMT conference has served as one of the leading meeting platforms for the materials science community in the Baltic region. It promotes international collaboration, facilitates the exchange of new scientific ideas, and strengthens partnerships between academia and industry.
