Prof. Artūrs Medvids Discusses Quantum Cones and Nanostructures at KTU

On April 23, 2026, a scientific seminar was held at the KTU Institute of Materials Science, delivered by Prof. Dr. habil. Artūrs Medvids from Riga Technical University (Latvia), Head of the Laboratory of Semiconductor Physics.
The seminar presentation was entitled: “Quantum Cone as a Nano Source of Light with Dispersive Spectrum, Distributed in Time and Along Height.”

The seminar addressed fundamental and applied research topics in solid-state physics and materials science, with particular emphasis on semiconductor physics, laser–matter interaction, and nanostructure formation. Prof. Medvids presented recent experimental results, discussed physical mechanisms of light generation in nanostructures, and highlighted application perspectives in nanotechnology, photonics, and functional materials.

The seminar attracted strong interest from researchers, PhD students, and academic staff of the Institute, fostering active discussions and opening opportunities for further international scientific collaboration.
